A global shortage of chips is having a huge impact on lead-times across many
industries, including the Access Control Credential Market. Currently,
there are no guarantees in the supply chain that the issue will be resolved
anytime soon.
The shortage is affecting many access control products, including
low-frequency products from manufacturers such as HID®, Allegion®, Kantech®
and more. Lead times from HID Global on several popular products is in the
7-8 week range. While these manufacturers are experiencing shortages
with the 125kHz products, ID ENHANCEMENTS, INC. maintains a large inventory
of compatible products in its RapidPROX® Product Line. If the OEM product
is not readily available, you can opt for the in-stock RapidPROX® brand
with no delay.
The global shortage of
chips is also affecting high-frequency products such as: MIFARE®,
DESFire® and HID® iCLASS® Products. Some iCLASS® products are incurring
a 5-6 week lead time, while some SEOS® Products are currently at 12
weeks. Since iCLASS® is a proprietary product, it is recommended that
you check your stock and get an order in as quickly as possible in
anticipation of longer than normal lead times.
In addition to access
credentials, readers are also affected. We are working closely with our
suppliers to maintain inventory, but we urge you to keep needed equipment and
supplies on-hand to prevent delays and unforeseen cost increases. Below are some of the recent headlines: |
